Humbled & Grateful

My heart is so full today after last night, my first solo photography exhibition.

The event blew away any expectations, in all ways. You could feel the love in the room, of the work and the subject matter. It was essentially an unveiling of some of my favorite moments of the thousands of hours I’ve spent on the water, in the Everglades.

A place that helped me find peace at a very early age, through the guidance of my father and his own love of nature. This place has healed me and has been one of my greatest teachers, repeatedly bestowing proper perspective on everything in my life.

I have been hard-pressed to find the right words to sum up the whole experience.

My brother Olin said it well this morning.

“Maybe more than anything, I am proud that an event like this gets to show people by example that amidst all the distractions, anger, and digital bullshit right now, that there is still real currency in connection to place. I know your love of that corner of the earth, evidenced in your framing of it, will resonate with people and will do its part to inspire in others a commitment to that same type of connection. You should feel satisfied, brother.”
